Yoga is the journey of the self,
to the self, through the self.
The benefits of yoga provide both instant gratification and lasting transformation. In the fitness world, both are extremely important. Too much time with too few results can be incredibly discouraging, and monotonous routines week after week can lead to stagnation. Yoga can change your physical and mental capacity quickly, while preparing the mind and body for long-term health.
I graduated from Yax Yoga Concepts 200 Hour Teacher Training in the winter of 2009, and began teaching in 2010, and it changed my life! Yoga has helped me be a stronger person, physically and mentally. Yoga has made me a more flexible person, mind and body, and Yoga has made me fearless, both on and off my mat. I believe in the practice of yoga, because I believe that anyone, no matter your size, your deficiencies, your mental blocks, can do yoga.
In my classes, I always provide some staple poses. My classes do change with what is needed, dependent on the students in my classes, but the one thing that does not change is that I always try to make my classes fun. While I do put in place poses needed for each individual class, I also provide some challenges along the way. I hear people saying all the time, how they wont do yoga because they are not flexible, and I remind them - that is why we do yoga!
Besides teaching and practicing yoga, I am a mom to a wonderful son. I love spending time with my son, and family, and I always look forward to spending time with my friends. I love sports, playing and watching, especially football- Go 49ers! I enjoy learning, and continue to do so with my yoga teaching and practicing, and look forward to teaching yoga to as many as I can -
mind, body, and spirit.
“Our practice is a shelter we build for our spiritual selves. It is the work we do to safeguard and support the possibility of spiritual growth. The winds of life constantly wear away at this shelter, but if we stick to our tools, the shelter will hold.” - Rolf Gates
